Hamlet, the tragedy by William Shakespeare, recounts how Prince Hamlet exacts revenge on his uncle for murdering his father. The gravedigger scene is well known, where Hamlet thinks about the commonness of death and the vanity of life, while looking in the face of an unearthed skull. To be or not to be, probably the most famous quote of the play, expresses what Absinthe Hamlet Hardcore Black stands for: A black Absinthe with a merciless alcohol percentage of 69% (138 proof!) combined with grand wormwood (artemisia absinthium) and bottled in a unique skull bottle. Despite its strength, Hamlet Hardcore Black has a surprisingly smooth taste. This effect is achieved by adding a bit of cinnamon and vanilla to the recipe.

 

How to drink black Absinthe Hamlet Hardcore

You shouldn't drink Absinthe Hamlet Hardcore Black straight, unless you want to experience the "Shot of Death". This black colored liquor is simply too strong. We recommend to drink Hamlet Hardcore Black on ice or mixed with two parts ice-cold water and one sugar cube. Ideally in a skull glass, which you can also buy here at our store. You can also use this black Absinthe for strong cocktails. We like for example Hamlet Hardcore Absinthe mixed with Coke and served on ice. But you better be careful, this drink is super strong.

Hamlet Hardcore Black is a very strong, deliberately unconventional Absinthe that clearly stands out from classic green Absinthes. It is aimed at connoisseurs seeking an intense and extraordinary Absinthe experience.

Both Absinthes are based on the same recipe, but their color differs. Since the coloring also affects the taste, Hamlet Classic Green has a more vegetal flavor. These "green" notes are absent in Hamlet Black, which focuses on its original taste.

Despite its strength, the taste is surprisingly mild. This is because the recipe includes cinnamon and vanilla in addition to anise and wormwood. This gives Hamlet a very pleasing flavor profile. But be warned, this masks its potent 69% alcohol content. You should enjoy this Absinthe with caution.

We recommend the classic preparation with water and sugar. Either mixed 1:1 (1 part Absinthe to 1 part water) with a sugar cube for the intense "Shot of Death" or the classic ratio of 1 part Absinthe to 2 parts water.
