José Giralt is a vintage Absinthe from Spain. The bottle is from the years before 1936, the year when the Spanish Civil War started. Based on the type of the bottle (mouthblown) and the sealing (metal) we assume 1920. Another indicator is the history of the distillery. The Giralt distillery was already in business by the end of the 19th century, in our photo gallery you can find a historical invoice from 1893. On the vintage photography you can see the distillery, which was located in Badalona not far away from the capital of Catalunya, Barcelona. Their flagship product was the anise liqueur "Perla", which is as well communicated in big letters from the roof of the fabric. The distillery was hit hard during the Spanish Civil War, no reference can be found that Mr. José Giralt continued with his business after the war was over...

 

Condition of the José Giralt vintage Absinthe bottle

This vintage Absinthe bottle is in pristine condition. This means the label and metal sealing are in perfect condition. The filling level is for the age of the bottle very high, and the Absinthe inside the bottle is clear without sediments. Spanish Absinthes traditionally have a higher anise level, this is due to the fact that the liqueur "Anis" is quite popular in the Spanish drinking culture. Unfortunately, we can not say more to the taste of this Absinthe, as no other bottle was found so far. That is why this bottle is a true collector's item.

The Vintage Giralt was produced in Spain. Absinthes from this region have historically been characterized by a higher anise content than many French bottlings.

Giralt dates from the period after the French ban on Absinthe, when many producers relocated their production to Spain. This period is now considered particularly interesting for collectors.
