Once upon a time in 2001, Facebook, YouTube and the iPhone had not yet been invented, two friends decided to sell Absinthe online. The timing was early, because the Green Fairy had just been legalized in the European Union. But this idea was to last for the next decades... For more than 20 years, we proudly supply the worldwide Absinthe community with real Absinthe and authentic accessories. Strong68 Absinthe: The Limited Edition

Like the name suggests, Strong68 is a quite powerful Absinthe with 68% alcohol by vol. (136 proof). The recipe is based primarily on grand wormwood (artemisia absinthium). Other traditional herbs like anise and fennel are used to give this Absinthe a pleasantly fresh body. Nevertheless, the wormwood in the recipe gives Strong68 a slightly bitter taste. Therefore, we recommend preparing your glass of Absinthe according to the classic French Absinthe ritual with ice-cold water and 1-2 sugar cubes (more info about the ritual can be found below). The Limited Edition is made with a little bit more wormwood than the regular Strong68.

Strong68 is perfectly suitable for Absintheurs who are looking for real Absinthe and a classic manufacturing process. Strong68 is a distilled spirit (instead of being an oil mix or macerate) and is naturally colored using herbs and no colorings. The wormwood is locally cultivated on the fields of the distillery in France, which guarantees premium quality. The alcoholic strength is as well set to the classic level of 68% by volume. Only at that level, the plant-based green color of the spirit is preserved. Overall, this Absinthe is like in the old days. If you are looking for the real thing, Absinthe Strong68 is your choice. It is important to point out, that Absinthe is not a drug. You will not (!) hallucinate (sorry). Nevertheless, this Absinthe should be consumed responsibly.

How to drink Strong68 Absinthe

You should drink Strong68 according to the classic French Absinthe ritual. You need an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, sugar cubes and ice-cold water for this traditional ritual. This is how it works: First, you fill some Absinthe into the glass (approx. 1 oz). Then you place the Absinthe spoon on the rim of the glass, put a sugar cube on top and slowly add water. You can use a water carafe or - even more professional - an Absinthe fountain for that. We recommend a ratio of one part Absinthe to three parts water. The Absinthe in the glass blends with sugared water and magically clouds from green to an opalescent white color. This is called the "louche". Finally, stir the Absinthe with the spoon. Your glass of Absinthe is prepared!

A final note: We do not recommend burning the sugar cube, this is sometimes promoted. But this is (1.) dangerous as Absinthe is 136 proof, (2.) not historically authentic and (3.) destroys the aroma of the fine spirit. Drink Absinthe the traditional like we described above. This is simply the best and most authentic way.

The Limited Edition contains more wormwood than the regular version. This makes the flavor somewhat more intense and robust, but it remains typical Strong68 with a classic Absinthe profile.

The classic way to enjoy Absinthe is recommended: Pour Absinthe into a glass, place sugar on an Absinthe spoon and slowly pour ice-cold water (approx. 2-3 parts) over it until the Absinthe becomes milky and cloudy (louche effect).

Yes, the Strong68 Limited Edition is a genuine distilled Absinthe, naturally colored with herbs and containing no artificial colors or additives.

Compared to the regular Strong68, the Limited Edition contains an increased amount of wormwood, which gives the Absinthe a stronger bitterness and more depth in the herbal profile.

This Absinthe edition is aimed primarily at experienced Absinthe connoisseurs and collectors who are looking for a limited bottling with a more intense character.

Frequently Asked Questions General

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit whose characteristic taste is primarily derived from wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and became widely known in the 19th century.

Absinthe is traditionally diluted with ice-cold water, which is slowly dripped into the glass – often over a sugar cube. This preparation allows the aromas to unfold and creates the typical "louche" effect, where the spirit becomes milky and cloudy.

The high alcohol content serves as a carrier for the subtle herbal aromas and preserves them. Absinthe is therefore not intended for pure consumption, but is traditionally drunk diluted with water.

Absinthe is a traditional herbal spirit, whose characteristic taste is mainly due to wormwood, anise, and fennel. It originated in the border region between Switzerland and France and gained widespread recognition in the 19th century.

For the classic preparation, an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon for the sugar cube, and a carafe or fountain with ice-cold water are used. These tools allow for slow dilution and ensure a balanced taste experience.
