The spoon Antique made by ALANDIA Barware is an authentic reproduction of one of the most popular antique Absinthe spoons of the 19th century: The Losange spoon. This spoon for Absinthe is made by zinc die casting (not shiny stainless steel) to give it a vintage, slightly tarnished finish. The material is very solid, therefore this spoon will last for centuries. Nevertheless, you should always handwash the Antique spoon, as aggressive dishwasher detergent can harm the surface. With its vintage look, this Absinthe spoon resembles a real antique. Literally, this spoon is one of a kind, and we highly recommend it to any nostalgic Absintheur!

Frequently Asked Questions about the
Product

The name "Antique" refers to the spoon's historically inspired style. Its shape and surface are based on 19th-century absinthe accessories, deliberately conveying an aged, traditional impression.

The antique spoon deliberately avoids a sleek or modern look, instead possessing a nostalgic character reminiscent of original absinthe spoons from the classic absinthe era. As a result, it embodies atmosphere rather than neutrality.

The spoon is fully functional and suitable for the classic preparation of absinthe. At the same time, its visual appeal plays a more significant role than with simple spoons, which is why it is often chosen for aesthetic reasons.

The spoon is particularly well-suited to classic absinthe glasses, historical absinthes, and traditional preparation rituals. It complements setups where a vintage or Belle Époque style is intentionally created.

This spoon is aimed at absinthe lovers, collectors and nostalgics who value historical appeal and harmonious details and consciously choose their accessories as part of the enjoyment experience.

Frequently Asked Questions
general

For the traditional ritual, three basics are usually sufficient: an Absinthe glass, an Absinthe spoon, and ice-cold water (e.g., from a carafe). Sugar cubes are optional. Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.

Carafe: simple, flexible, ideal for beginners Brouilleur: controlled drip directly onto the glass, very classic Fountain: perfect for quiet, even dripping and when several glasses are to be prepared one after another (or simultaneously) – often the "ritual upgrade."

For glasses: clean gently, especially with delicate shapes or decorations – ideally with mild dish soap and a soft cloth. Spoons (depending on material/finish) should be stored dry to maintain their surface and shine. For delicate or coated items, hand washing is usually the safest option.
