The spoon Antique made by ALANDIA Barware is an authentic reproduction of one of the most popular antique Absinthe spoons of the 19th century: The Losange spoon. This spoon for Absinthe is made by zinc die casting (not shiny stainless steel) to give it a vintage, slightly tarnished finish. The material is very solid, therefore this spoon will last for centuries. Nevertheless, you should always handwash the Antique spoon, as aggressive dishwasher detergent can harm the surface. The original French way of preparation includes an Absinthe spoon, one or two sugar cubes, an Absinthe glass and ice-cold water. You pour Absinthe into the glass (approx. 20 ml / 1 oz), place the spoon with the sugar cubes on top of the glass and add water. The Absinthe louches from green to white color Santé!

Those who prepare Absinthe more frequently or serve multiple people often use a fountain or a brouilleur for particularly even dripping.

An Absinthe glass is shaped to better highlight the aroma and mixing ratio. Many classic models (e.g., Pontarlier glasses) support the typical dilution with water and ensure that the louche effect develops beautifully and controllably – something that often appears less "harmonious" in a simple tumbler.

The Absinthe spoon is placed over the glass to hold a sugar cube while water slowly drips over it. "The right one" primarily depends on the glass size and style: It is important that it rests steadily and offers enough surface area for the water to flow through evenly.
