Once upon a time in the year 2001...

Facebook, YouTube, and the iPhone hadn't even been invented yet when two friends decided to sell absinthe online. The timing was perfect, as the Green Fairy had just been legalized in the European Union. This idea would endure for decades to come… For over 20 years, we've been supplying the global absinthe community with genuine absinthe and authentic accessories – and we look forward to many more years to come!

Our first absinthe was Strong68, and it has been our best-selling absinthe for years. That's why we chose this brand for our limited edition celebrating 20 years of absinthe. The recipe for this Strong68 has been slightly modified. We've used a little more wormwood to make it even more intense. The edition is limited to 1020 bottles, and each bottle is numbered. We hope you enjoy our anniversary absinthe edition.

An Absinthe community is developing

When we started out, most communication among absinthe enthusiasts took place in absinthe forums. Places to meet other absinthe lovers in those early days included websites like the Wormwood Society, Louched Lounge, Absinthe Buyersguide, and MySpace. It was a crazy time, as the absinthe market was just beginning to develop. To be honest, most of the first absinthes offered for sale weren't the best. But it was a fun time, with many brands entering the market and many different versions to try. So even back then, there was a great need to share experiences.

Over time, the demands on the quality of absinthe increased. Distilled absinthe without artificial colorings became the new standard, and many distillers were motivated to produce the most authentic replicas of the originals from before the absinthe ban. But at that early stage, we're talking about the years 2008-2010, it wasn't certain whether the newly introduced spirits category would establish itself. Perhaps it was all just a short-lived trend…?

Fortunately, the opposite was true. Absinthe established itself as a small but rapidly growing niche in the spirits market. The rest is history: The community of absinthe enthusiasts grew steadily. This was because absinthe was legalized not only in the European Union, but in almost every country in the world, including Switzerland, France, and the USA. In these countries, the production and sale of genuine absinthe had previously been prohibited or strictly regulated.

For our anniversary, we already have 15,000+ Absintheurs united!

Today, 20 years later, absinthe is still a niche market. But it's a market with a lot of passion and community spirit. We're proud to be part of this amazing community and are delighted to supply it with our products.
